FLIP Corporate Quiz Night in aid of Happy Faces Charitable Trust

FLIP Corporate Fundraising Quiz Night in aid of Happy Faces Charitable Trust Thursday 25th February 2010 saw 14 Gibraltar-based companies battling it out for the coveted title of Faces’ Brainiest Bunch 2010 at Savannah Lounge, Ocean Village. The event, organised by FLIP student Dhiraj Nagrani, proved to be a huge success with over 150 people in attendance. The night began with a fantastic display by the 1st/4th Gibraltar Scout Group Corps of Drums and an emotional speech by Stefan Olivero, a beneficiary of the Charity, who has just recently been granted the wish of a lifetime for the courage shown in battling his illness.

With the start of the first round of the quiz, participants frantically racked their brains for answers, whilst in the background Dhiraj and his team were busily finalising their preparations. Hosting the event was Michelle Rugeroni who next presented the acts choreographed by Dulcie Edwards of Mediterranean Dance Group whilst the quiz answers were being marked. As the rounds progressed so the tension mounted, relieved only by a superb performance from Urban Dance. Participants were finally allowed to relax and enjoy the sounds of Lathan Norton and Georgia Thursting whilst the results were being tallied. However, there was a twist in the tale: a head-to-head battle between Hassans and Quad Consultancy to decide who would take home 2nd Place. In 3rd Place came Hassans, who were not quick enough for Quad Consultancy who took home 2nd Place. However, 1st Place and winners of the Faces Trophy donated by Gibraltar Crystal was none other than PartyGaming. However, fundraising didn’t stop there for Dhiraj. In order to reach the target of £2,000 set by the organisers of FLIP a raffle also began on the night and the winning tickets were drawn last Thursday 2nd April.

Everyone’s efforts raised £2,853 for the Happy Faces Charitable Trust which was generously matched by The Bonita Trust as part of the FLIP Project, and presented to Debbie Garcia representing the charity.

“I’m not going to lie – it hasn’t been easy,” joked Dhiraj. “But I am grateful to FLIP, Faces and all those who have helped me and supported me throughout for allowing me this incredible experience. I have now reached my target and am ecstatic, but there are still many events to take place and I urge our ever-generous community to show all the other participants the same if not more support than that which I have received”.

Kindly note that this is a Future Leaders in Philanthropy (FLIP) fundraising event for The Happy Faces Charitable Trust. FLIP is a joint venture project between The Bonita Trust and Credit Suisse.
